Calendario Amani 2006

Amani is about to celebrate its tenth anniversary. Registered in a notary’s office in Milan on 4th April 1996 as a Non-profit Organisation, Amani has always concentrated its efforts on information, culture, on sensitising public opinion and raising funds for the realisation of cooperation and development projects in Kenya, Sudan and Zambia.
From the word go, Amani has worked in complete harmony alongside Koinonia, the ‘sister’ organisation set up in Zambia in 1982 and in Kenya in 1990.
Faithful to African culture, which places human beings and their lives at the centre of everything, Amani sponsors training and social promotion projects, targeted especially at children, the weak and the disadvantaged.
Ten years of activities, carried out with intelligence and feeling, fully aware of being merely a small cog in the wheel, but an effective one, have allowed Amani to change and improve the lives of thousands of African boys and girls. With a constant objective, or rather vision: that all the children in the world may have a family, a home, food, clothes, respect and love.
We are not discouraged by the fact that at times it feels like the world we live in is unjust, one in which the economy and means of communication tend to weave an oppressive network, while brotherhood and solidarity do not seem to be growing at the same rate.
We continue to listen to the lesson imparted to us by children, who teach us that there aren’t only many little “Mes”, but that this small planet is inhabited by one single, great “US”.
(padre Renato Kizito Sesana).
