In questa edizione Vi presenteremo
una serie di grandi maestri
africani.
After countless wars of independence,
endless revolutions, so much guerrilla warfare and more than fifty recently
formed countries, Africa has had its fair share of leaders in the last
fifty years and several of them have been highlighted in world history.
There has been optimism and pessimism; there have been the greatest
of all men and the most abhorrent of dictators. Nevertheless, prejudice
is still so strong –
even within us – that when there is a corrupt African Head of
State, we tend to think of this as the norm. But when a good one comes
along, we consider this to be an exception. If we say Mobutu or Bokassa,
for example we think “Ah, poor Africa…”; if instead
we say Mandela, we think: “An extraordinary man, an exception
to the rule!”
(Pietro Veronese).
